Falangcai porcelain was first produced in 1696, born out of KangXi Emperor's obsession with porcelain. Highly passionate and particular, he even set up a porcelain workshop inside the Forbidden City so every piece could be perfected under his watch. It was made to imperial order and exclusively for the imperial court and the royal family. Due to its high production cost, it was among the rarest and most dazzling ceramic wares of the Qing Dynasty.
